  • 6 - Belaying

Belaying is holding the climber and rope in case they fall. Rope connects the belayer and the climber allowing the climber to fall and not hit the ground.

In a gym partner-climb one person is the belayer and the other is the climber. The rope is hooked to the top of the wall and put on both belayer and climber. The climber is connected to the end of the rope and the belayer is connected through a belay device.

Gyms do not offer belayer, either you must adequately train yourself or find someone already there who doesn't have a partner.
